The Morning Devotional: Psalm 112
Prayer: Our God in heaven, you alone are God, and there is no other. You are the true and living God who is to be feared by all those made in your image. We thank you for your mercies and for revealing yourself to us in your Word. We give you thanks for lighting our path and for giving us your commandments. We thank you for saving us, thereby turning our hearts from stone to flesh so we can serve and love you as you command. We know that we fall short of these things, but we are grateful that you do not cast us off, but instead bless us with many good things in this life. You give us our daily bread. You clothe us. You give us homes to live in. You are kind to us, teaching us your ways and leading us in the light of truth. You promise to sustain us and help us trust you in all things. You are kind and compassionate and, therefore, we praise your great and holy Name. Who else cares for us as you do? Who else promises great things to sinful people like you? There is no one we can turn to who understands us because you made us. We desire to love and serve you all of our days. We need your help to do so. Please help us, Father. Please help us walk reverently before you all our days. Please help us love your Word and be thankful for your many blessings. We know we are not worthy of the least of your mercies. Yet, you are merciful to us because of what your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, has done. Please grant us more of your Spirit; we ask and pray through Christ, our Lord. Amen.
