Daily Prayer for February 11, 2023 (Psalm 38)

Prayer: Our God in heaven, your Word tells us that you are infinitely holy and righteous and that all sin, whether small or great, must be atoned for if we are to withstand your righteous judgment. In Christ, we have a sure foundation and avoid the condemnation that comes to those without him. AS your redeemed people, we are thankful for your atoning and redeeming work, but we also confess plainly that we sin daily in thought, Word, and deed. We are ashamed at those times when we drift from your commands. In those times, you are faithful to discipline us, convict us of our sins, and bring us back to you. Yet, there are times when we resist your hand and flee from your presence. Like the psalmist, we plead for you not to rebuke us in your anger or discipline us in your wrath. Your Word tells us that you discipline those you love, yet we sometimes resist it. Forgive us, Father. Do not forsake the work of your hands in our lives. Please continue to mold us and shape us after the image of your Son. Please help us when we go astray, knowing that you love us too much to leave us in our misery and sin. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
