Daily Prayer for October 4, 2023: Psalm 111

Prayer: Our Father in heaven, we have many reasons to thank you, for you have revealed yourself to us and have rescued us from the misery of Egypt, guiding and directing us throughout our lives. As the God who has revealed himself to us as one who is great and glorious, the God who does marvelous things, keeping covenant with us and fulfilling your promises, we have good reason to lean upon you and not stray from that which you command. You provide us our daily bread as you did for the church of old in the wilderness when you rained down manna from heaven. In all you do, you prove that you are faithful even when we are faithless. We pray, our God, that we would be thankful, praising you weekly in the congregation of the assembled godly. We pray that you would help us by the eternal Spirit to do so in our homes, families, and friends. We further ask that our lives demonstrate our gratitude to you for all you have done for us. We acknowledge that you are holy and there is no God like you. Yet, we are sinful. We fall short of your commands. We fail to love you and others as you have told us. We are ashamed at how easily we drift into worry, although you have promised to care for every need and every concern. Forgive us, Father. Please grant us lives that reflect your calling on us. Please help us to live as a holy people redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
