Daily Prayer for October 3, 2023: Psalm 110

Daily Prayer for October 3, 2023: Psalm 110

Prayer: Our Father, it is clear from your Word and also from our experience that we, as your redeemed people, live in hard and trying times. Our culture has rejected your Law and turned its back on your Word. We lament the consequences that we are enduring, knowing that you have warned all creatures made in your image that there will be dire consequences if they reject you. Yet, as your people, we do not need to despair, for we serve a great and mighty King. We thank you that he sits at your right hand making intercession for his church. We thank you that you are ordering all events in such a way as to place all his and our enemies under his feet. Though we sometimes doubt, we know that all affairs of men will lead to one glorious end: the full vindication of your church through the coming of the great King, your Son, and our Savior. We know this to be true because you have sworn and will not change your mind. Indeed, your Son will shatter the boastful and arrogant of our world. He will shatter the kings of this fallen world, executing judgment over all who refuse to bow before him. We thank you that the victory is ours in Christ and ask that you grant us the patience to wait, the faithfulness to serve, and the love required to do all that you require. Please help us, Father. Please do not abandon us to the miseries of this fallen world. Please grant us your Spirit we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

VIII. To all those for whom Christ hath purchased redemption he doth certainly and effectually apply and communicate the same;a making intercession for them,b and revealing unto them, in and by the Word, the mysteries of salvation;c effectually persuading them by his Spirit to believe and obey; and governing their hearts by his Word and Spirit;d overcoming all their enemies by his almighty power and wisdom, in such manner and ways as are most consonant to his wonderful and unsearchable dispensation.e
