Daily Prayer for November 22, 2022

Prayer: Father, each Lord’s Day, you call your redeemed people to your presence to worship you. Each week we have the great privilege and opportunity to enter together, publicly, to sing your praises with hearts full of thanksgiving to you. In these times, we are called by you because you delight in meeting with us. We come knowing that you are a great God and a great king. You have overruled our sinful hearts that we inherited from our first parents. You have brought us from darkness into your marvelous light. You have put a new song in our minds and hearts, and we can, with joy, praise you for your excellent work of redeeming us. Therefore, with glad hearts, we should kneel before you, our Maker. We should, with joyful hearts, praise you for being a Good Shepherd who leads and guides us through the various twists and turns of this life. Yet, we confess that we often come with cold hearts. We confess that we are often thankless when we enter your presence. We confess that we often lack the affection demanded by your marvelous work of rescuing us from sin. Therefore, Father, please forgive us. Please grant us renewed minds and hearts that we would enter your gates with thanksgiving and sing with joy to you. Please give us more of your Spirit so that we will praise you and listen to you as your Word is preached. These things, we know, are designed for our good. Therefore, be kind to us, your people, and help us we pray through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Daily Prayer for November 17, 2022

Prayer: our God, we thank you for your kindness and mercy, which is given to us daily. We thank you for being pleased to rescue us from our misery and sin through the work of your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. We thank you for the many blessings you give to us. We thank you for our homes, our vehicles, our families, our spouses, our children, our church, and our church family. We thank you that you do not treat us as we deserve but have poured out grace upon grace to us each day.

We thank you for revealing yourself to us, poor creatures of dust, and telling us who you are and what you do. You are the God of the covenant and do exceedingly, abundantly beyond anything we can imagine or ask. You are faithful to us when we are faithless. We thank you that you never change and that all your promises are sure and true. We thank you for the promise of the New Heavens and New Earth. We thank you that you will never abandon us but will lead and guide us all our days. In these things, we are determined to praise you, our God, because you alone are worthy. Amen.

Scripture Meditation: Ps. 111

Daily Prayer for June 14, 2022

Prayer: Our glorious God in heaven: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we praise your name and thank you for your mercies extended to us each day. Like the Psalmist, we have many reasons to recount your wonderful works and deeds. There are many reasons for us to be thankful with our whole hearts as we pilgrim through this life. You have blessed us with your beloved Son, who, like us, lived in this world and experienced the many trials and temptations we face. You have called us into your presence and freed us from the tyranny of sin and the fear of death. You have made promises to us that will never fail or falter. Each day you grace us with your renewed faithfulness, and each moment you are present to hear us as we call out to you. You have called us your treasured possession and the apple of your eye. You have promised us the hope of the New Heavens and the New Earth and eternity with you where there is no more sin, sorrow, tears, or pain. Indeed, it is glorious because you are there!

There are innumerable reasons for us to sing with joy to you; therefore, we sing because you are worthy of this expression of our hearts to you. Yet, Father, there are too many times when we forget to be thankful but grumble and complain about our circumstances. Instead of praising you, we murmur. Instead of trusting you, we worry and grow anxious. Instead of praying, we gripe about things we cannot control. We forget that our lives are in your hands. Like the children of old, we draw your wrath and displeasure when we sin in this way. Forgive us! Please help us often reflect on your marvelous work and countless blessings for the sake of your Son in whose name we pray. Amen.

Daily Prayer for June 8, 2022

Prayer: As our God, we praise and thank you for your mercies and grace. You are full of loving-kindness and grace, and you do not treat us as our sins deserve. You have given us many reasons to be thankful in a world of cynicism and misery. Therefore, our God, we will give thanks to you with our whole heart, and we will recount all your wonderful deeds. You have promised us a Redeemer, and in the fullness of time, you brought your Son into this world that he would rescue his people from their sins. You have made great promises to your people, and as a God of infinite faithfulness, those promises are sure to come to pass. We thank you for each day you give to us. From end to end, you have ordained your will to be accomplished in the life of your creatures. We thank you that you are all-glorious and will bring all things to pass for the good of your people. We thank you that you are the one true God, and there is no other. Please help us to be a more thankful people. Please cause us to reflect often on the many blessings you give us.
