Daily Prayer for the Lord’s Day: Febraury 19, 2023
Prayer: Grant almighty God that your redeemed and eternally loved people would come with hearts desirous to see your beauty and majesty on this another Lord’s Day. We are thankful to you for giving us this one day in seven that you might prepare us for the spiritual battle that rages around us. Through the use of the weapons of our warfare: the preaching of your Word, the sacraments, and prayer, we are able, with the application of these things by your Holy Spirit, to withstand the efforts of the Evil One and wage war against the flesh and the world. We confess to you that we often demonstrate our ignorance when we seek to daily battle those things that would ruin us by devising other means to do so. You have graciously provided us the things most needful and have commanded that we use them for your good and the advancement of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Forgive us, Father, for failing to bow in prayer as we are being led to the throne of grace. Forgive us for closing our eyes but not praying. Forgive us for those times when we do not diligently listen to you as your Word is read and especially preached. Forgive us for not conferring with it, meditating on it, and seeking to hide those truths in our hearts. Forgive us for failing to take advantage of the sacraments the Savior gave us. We plead with you to change the thoughts and intentions of our hearts in these matters. Please help us to take full advantage of the Lord’s Day as it equips us for the struggles that lie ahead. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
