Prayer: Our most holy God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as we come before your majesty this Lord’s Day, we come knowing that we are creatures of dust and people without hope in this fallen world if not for your infinite kindness and grace given to us through the blood of the Passover Lamb, the Lord Jesus Christ. We come knowing that we are miserable creatures without you. We come confessing your might and power as the God who saved us from the clutches of sin and misery. We come to worship you on the day you have made for us that we might set aside those burdens and struggles that often accompany our week. Please grant us, most loving Father, a sense of peace that passes all understanding as we join as one people to sing praises to you and hear from you as the Word of God is preached. Though we often fail to honor this day as you have commanded us, we ask for your forgiveness, knowing that you are righteous and just, a God who delights in forgiving the sins of his redeemed people. Father, we long for that eternal rest that this day pictures for us. We long to be in your presence evermore, singing to you and worshiping you in Spirit and truth. Please help us today to see a small fraction of that eternal glory and place that eye has not seen or ear heard for those who love you and are called according to your purpose. Please help us to set aside all worldly concerns and struggles and rest in he who is our Sabbath Rest, the Lord Jesus Christ. These things we pray in his name. Amen.
