Prayer: Grant almighty God that your redeemed people would desire to come apart from our worldly recreations and employments on this day you have given us that we might worship you in spirit and truth. We thank you for giving us an example to follow that we would rest on this day that you have set apart and called holy. We know that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. We know that you will bless those who delight in it and strive to keep it according to your divine law. As your people, our joy is to gladly obey you in all things though we know that we fall short of all that you tell us to do. We long for the eternal Sabbath in which there will be no more sin. Yet, we are reminded today of the promise you give to all those who love you and are called by your name. Therefore, Father, please grant us an extra measure of your Spirit that we would love you and serve you this day in worship, fellowship, conversation, and acts of mercy and necessity. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
