Prayer: Almighty God, you who are holy and deserving of our absolute and unswerving obedience and love, we bow before you on another Lord’s Day to plead with you for the things we need. Your Word asks, “who may dwell with you in your holy temple,” and we confess that we are not worthy to do so. We read that we must be people who walk blamelessly, doing what is right. We note that we must be people that speak the truth in our hearts. We see that we are to be people who use our tongues for good, not evil. These things must be true of us, yet we know that we have violated these things on more than one occasion. We are sinners, Father. Therefore, we desperately need the only One who can stand where you stand and dwell with you on your holy hill. Forgive us for falling short of your glory. Thank you for giving us your Son, the great High Priest, who has atoned for our sins and transgressions and clothed us with righteousness that we can dwell with you forever.
We thank you for another Lord’s Day by which we are reminded of your eternal promise of an eternal rest made for all those who love you. We do love you, Father, because you first loved us. Therefore, we humbly beseech thee to help us today that we would attend to your worship with zeal and delight, listening to your Word as it is preached. Please help us in our weaknesses and grant us the grace to follow you all of our days we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
