Prayer: Father, your Word tells us that if we dwell in your shelter, the shelter of the Most High dwells in your presence, and there finds safety, comfort, hope, and encouragement to persevere in a world that is now the home of your people. You have graciously provided one day in seven to dwell securely in your presence, enjoying your glory, hearing from you as your Word is read and proclaimed. You have given us this day to sing praises to you for all you have done for us. Though we are weak and weary, you are pleased to come and meet with us each Lord’s Day. You do so because of your great love for us. You are moved with pity and compassion for your tired people, and you feed us with the bounty of your Word. We thank you, our Father, for these rich blessings you give though we know we are undeserving of all of them. Indeed, we are not deserving of the least of your mercies. Forgie us, Father, for not taking hold of your great gifts that come down from heaven. Forgive us, Father, for the many ways we seek safety and security in other things that will never deliver what our weary souls desire. Please feed us the bread of life today, for we know that man does not live on bread only but by every word that proceeds from your mouth. Grant your ministers the power of your Holy Spirit as they speak your truths into our minds and hearts. Please grant your Spirit to be poured out on us so we might be delivered from this evil and adulterous generation. Most of all, draw all glory to yourself so that he who boasts will boast only in you. These things we pray, humbly, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
