Prayer: Our God in heaven, we thank you and praise you for your wonderful deeds and for redeeming us from a life of sin and misery through the work of the Lord Jesus Christ. We give you thanks for not treating us as our sins deserve. You alone are infinitely good and kind, burying our sins in the deepest ocean and removing them as far as the east is from the west. In Christ, we have the hope of an eternal rest pictured for us in this one day in seven that you give to your creatures. Indeed, the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. On this day, we are reminded of your eternal love and your zeal to keep your promises to us. Today, we long to hear your voice and do what we are told. Therefore, we pray that the preached Word would go forth with great power and might with the blessing of your Spirit into the ears, minds, and hearts of your sheep. We pray for those men who have been called by you, ordained of your Spirit, as they labor in pulpits across this world. We ask that you guard their hearts and minds and keep them from the efforts of the Evil One to harm and destroy. Bless your Word, Father! Please bring great fruit from it today, we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.
