Prayer: Our gracious and merciful Father, we come to you this morning with humble expectations of your presence as we gather in the name of Christ to worship, honor, and adore you for your marvelous works and acts of kindness offered to sinners. Like the apostle, we cry, “Who will deliver us from this body of death? Praise be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” Therefore, our God, we desire to glorify you with our thoughts and words today as we celebrate another Lord’s Day that reminds us of your continuous flow of grace to weary sinners and the hope of the resurrection and the glorious life with you in your presence. Please forgive us for not honoring this day above all other days. Please forgive us for our lack of affection and love for you. Please forgive us for forgetting the mercy and grace you give us through the hope of the Gospel. Please help us today and remind us of your favor as your chosen people and the apple of your eye. Please grant us an extra measure of your Spirit, enabling us to worship you as you deserve. We long to see your beauty and majesty. May you be pleased to show us something of your glory as your Word is read and proclaimed today. Please rend the heavens and come down and meet with us, blessing and helping us as weary pilgrims in this sin-wrecked world. Please sustain us by your grace and please work in us a greater love for you and your Son. We pray these things in his name. Amen.
