Prayer: Grant to us, our holy God, a sense of your presence and favor today as we gather to worship you in song and prayer. Please speak to us through your Word read and proclaimed. Grant, we beg thee, a powerful move of your Spirit who alone changes hearts and minds, bringing people from darkness to light. Grant, we humbly ask of thee that your people would hear your Word and gladly delight in it, doing all it says. We thank you for the Lord’s Day, a day you have made with your own hands. We have you thanks for reminding us of what you have promised — the hope of an eternal Sabbath in the comfortable presence of the Most High God. Forgive us, Father, for not treating this day as holy, for going out own way and doing our own pleasure instead of that which our souls genuinely need. Forgive us for not seeing this day as good, right, and helpful for weary pilgrims. Please grant, we ask there, hearts of repentance regarding our attitudes and actions about this day. Forgive, we ask and plead through Christ, our Lord. Amen
