Prayer: Grant almighty God that your redeemed people, bought with the blood of the Passover Lamb, would gladly and joyfully worship you today in all the ways you have commanded. Grant, we beseech thee that we would do so with full hearts and expected blessing as we gather to meet with the God of heaven who made us and called us to himself. Forgive us, Father, for our cold affections towards you. Forgive us for the many times we gather to worship you out of mere duty, with little to no joy. Forgive us, Lord, for we are weak creatures of dust. Please be merciful to us and patient with us! Though we desire to worship you with all our hearts, souls, mind, and strength, we know we fall short of your glory. We look forward to all that the Lord’s Day pictures for us as it points us to the blessed hope and glorious gathering of your people in the new heavens and earth. Please help us today to cease doing our own pleasure but, instead, delight in doing your pleasure. Please help us to call the Sabbath a delight and not see it as something to get through. Please help us to honor it, going your way and not our own. Please grant us the boldness and confidence to speak plainly to our brothers and sisters about the sermon, their Christian lives, and other concerns in which we can weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. Please meet with us this day, and minister to us by your Spirit we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
