Prayer: Grant almighty God that your redeemed people would be glad and rejoice in this day that you have made, a day that reminds us of the eternal rest you have promised all those who love you. Grant, we plead with thee that your presence would be seen and known as we gather to worship the one, living, and true God of heaven and earth. As we gather together with the saints of your visible church, we pray that you would cause us to love you and seek you, denying self and gladly following you wherever you lead us. As we gather, we ask that you would be pleased to forgive us for the wavering and fickle affections of our hearts. Please work in us, our God, a greater love for you as we are reminded of your love for us through the means you give to your church. Please help us to hear you as you speak through the reading and preaching of your most holy Word. Please cause us to worship you with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. Please help us to see the beauty of our Savior who gave his life as a ransom for us, granting us access to your presence where we behold your majesty, might, and power. Though we are weak creatures, you have determined to strengthen us by giving us this one day in seven that reminds us of all you place before your church. Please help us and be merciful to us we ask through the name of Christ, our Lord. Amen.
