Prayer: Our God in heaven, we thank you for the reminder of the heavenly rest we have been promised. Each week, you give us this one day in seven to point us to those things that the eye has not seen or ear heard that await those who love you. We long for this rest, Father. Unfortunately, We live in a world that is not at rest. Turmoil surrounds us on every side. The effects of sin are plainly evident and paraded before us through the news, social media, articles, and discussions. Though we do not put pour hope in princes, we sometimes tremble at the wickedness of man. We are thankful that the heart of the king is in your hand and that your Holy Spirit is restraining the full effect of sin in our day. We confess that we sometimes fear. Please help us, Father, place our entire hope and trust in your goodness and kindness toward us. Please grant to us your Spirit that we would rest comfortably in your divine providence and will knowing that you are working for the good of your church. Please help us trust you with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength.

We do pray for our brothers and sisters facing difficult and trying times. We pray for their protection, knowing that you have promised to give our brothers and sisters all they need. Please use these difficult days to advance the glory of Christ and his offer to give rest to weary souls we pray through his name. Amen.
