Prayer: Grant to us, our God, a sense of your presence today as we gather on another Lord’s day to worship and honor you, exalting your name with our voices in songs of praise and adoration. Rend the heavens and come down and meet with us, for we are weary and tired, restless from the cares of this life and all those things that cause us to worry and fret. Though we know you are good to us, not treating us as our sins deserve, and though we know that you do not treat us as our sins deserve — we are not worthy of the least of your mercies, we beg you to help us by being merciful and gracious to us because we are nothing without you. Please grant us hearts that deal honestly with our attitudes and actions. Please grant us genuine, godly sorrow and repentance for known sins and remind us of the hope of Christ, who is the gospel. Please come and minister to your redeemed people and comfort us as we seek first your kingdom and righteousness. We further ask that you would make your glory known in our midst today. This is the day that you have made! Please cause us to rejoice and be glad in it. We pray for these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
