Prayer: Our great and glorious God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we thank you for your kindness in giving us rest last night, thus preparing us for the day of worship as outlined in your most holy Word. We thank you for this day that teaches us to prioritize our week in a way that anticipates the blessing of the gathered worship of your people. We praise you for reminding us of the eternal rest you promised your cherished people. Indeed, no promises you offer us can fail. In Christ, we have a solid rock and sure confidence in the blessing of the perpetual Sabbath rest that awaits all those who love you. We are grateful that you have determined to call your people to worship you, knowing that we have great need of it because it is there that we hear your Word preached and applied to our lives. We pray, therefore, that you would rend the heavens and come down and bless us with your presence. Our God, we long to see your glory! Please open our eyes to see your majesty, beauty, and acts of kindness as we publicly acknowledge that there is no God like you. Forgive us, Father, for how easily we trample underfoot this day. We know you give it to us to help us in our journey as we pilgrim to that eternal rest. Please grant us more zeal, diligence, and love for this one day in seven made for us. Please help us, Father. We are a needy people, and we have need of you. These things we pray through Christ, our Sabbath rest, and eternal King and Lord. Amen.
