Prayer: Grant, almighty God, that your redeemed people who have been blessed beyond measure would gather joyfully to praise your name today in a spirit of unity and truth. We thank you for giving us what we would not desire ourselves. Through the work of your Son and the life-giving labors of your Holy Spirit, we have been changed to desire your worship and the company of saints. Because of your work, you have called us to work by worshiping you on the Lord’s Day. On this day, you remind us of your eternal love and promise of that day in which we will enter our Sabbath rest. We thank you for the picture you draw for us each Lord’s Day and the reminder of your presence with us wherever we go. Though we struggle with indwelling sin, our eyes and ears have been opened to the things of great significance. Forgive us, Father, for our lack of zeal for your worship and for this day you have made for us. Please grant us your presence as we gather together today. We pray that you will be exalted, honored, and adored and that you, by your presence, would speak to us through your Word read and preached. Please grant us a greater willingness to express our love to you in song, and may we leave your worship differently than when we entered, we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
