Prayer: Our Father in heaven, you who are holy and mighty, able to save to the uttermost weak and weary sinners, we praise your name today because you are worthy of the praises from your people you have redeemed. In days of old, you rescued your people from the place of bondage and misery by freeing them with your power and might, conquering all your enemies. You delivered them and fed them with the manna from heaven. You cared for their needs and brought them to the place of worship at Sinai. Today, on another Lord’s day, we gather with great expectation that you will rescue and sustain your people with your presence, reminding us of your power to save. We gather to hear from he who is the Bread of Life, the Lord Jesus Christ, who gives rest for our weary souls. As in days of old, we gather to sing of your greatness to redeem us and forgive us for our transgressions and sins. Though we often turn to the left or the right, we are thankful that you do not abandon the work of your hands. You sustain and preserve us through the various means you have ordained: Your Word, the sacraments, and prayer. Therefore, holy Father, meet with us today. Give us that living water that alone satisfies and feed us with that bread that will fill our souls. Grant to us a hunger and thirst for righteousness, knowing that you alone will fill us with what we need we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
