Prayer: Our glorious God in heaven, we humbly bow before your throne today to thank you for your marvelous deeds and many mercies. We thank you for not treating us as our sins deserve but have buried them in the deepest ocean. We thank you for bestowing a blessing on those who love you and are called according to your purpose. Therefore, we pray that you would help us not walk according to the counsel of this world. We ask that you would remove all hindrances and distractions from our lives and that we would serve you as you have commanded.  We ask that you would give us a greater delight in your Word and that we would meditate on it day and night that we would be careful to do all that it tells us. We thank you for your Word as it shatters the darkness of our minds and softens the hardness of our hearts. We know that your word is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword. Therefore, we pray that you would use your Word today, especially as it is preached, to open the eyes of our hearts and minds and move us closer to your will and ways. Forgive us, Father, for how easily we stray from your Word though we know it will cause us difficulty when we do. Forgive us for being lazy when it comes to reading your Word and hearing it preached. Please grant to us a renewed zeal to meditate, confer, and bring forth fruit of it in our lives we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
