Prayer: Grant almighty God that we, as your redeemed people, would be aware of and fight against the designs and efforts of the Evil One. Grant, we plead thee that we would be aware of the battle we are in as those with your Name on our hearts, hands, and head. We know, our Father, that your Word tells us that there is an enemy around us and that he prowls like a lion looking for someone to destroy. We know that he disguises himself as that which seems good and right, and we know that he lures us with those things that seem pleasant. Indeed, Father, they are that for a season, but the end of all of it is death. Please grant us a greater awareness of the efforts of the enemy of our souls. Please remind us that we are creatures of dust which must live in dependency upon you each day if we are to survive the unrelenting battle against the world, the flesh, and the devil. Therefore, we pray that we would watch and pray lest we enter into temptation. We further pray that you would not lead us into temptation and deliver us from the Evil One’s labors, schemes, and designs. We ask, holy Father, that you would support and deliver us when tempted, knowing that there is no temptation taken us but such as is common to man. Thank you for being faithful to us, giving us a way of escape when tempted, and giving us your Word that we can use to battle against he who would kill us if permitted. Grant, we beg you greater resolve to fight our flesh and the sins that so easily burden us, and may we do so through your Holy Spirit, always mindful that greater is he that is in us than he that is in the word. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
