Prayer: Our God in heaven, we bless your name today as the one true God of heaven and earth. We adore you for your mercy and grace, for not giving to pitiful sinners what we deserve. Instead, you have given us your Son through whom we have the forgiveness of sin and the several benefits that flow from it: assurance of your love, peace of conscience, joy in the Holy Spirit, increase of grace, and perseverance to the end. We thank you that you have not treated us as our sins deserve. We confess that we often fall short of your glory, and we are ashamed at our low zeal for your kingdom. Please help us to strive for godliness and holiness without which no one will see the Lord. Grant to us an extra measure of your Spirit today so we can seek first your kingdom and righteousness. We pray this in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
