Prayer: Our Father in heaven, we come to you as the only true and living God able and ready to help us with whatever concerns we face and whatever struggles we experience. As our Father, you are kind and gracious, not treating us as our sins deserve. You have adopted us into your family, having justified us by faith through the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. As such, we have and enjoy all the liberties granted to us as your children: we have your name, access to the Spirit, and the throne of grace in prayer. We are protected, pitied, and provided for in this life. At times, we are chastened as sons and daughters, yet never cast away from your presence.

Therefore, we boldly come to you to ask for the things we need. As your children, we confess our sins to you, knowing that we fall short of your glory daily. There is no day that goes by that we do not sin in thought, word, or deed. Our thoughts are often impure and dishonoring to you. The words that come from our mouths are often unkind and lack grace. We use our tongues for evil instead of good. From the same mouth, we praise you in worship and slander others who are made in your image. Our actions also fall short of those things you command. When we reflect on the demands of your moral law, we see how desperately we need a Savior. We thank you, Father, for giving us your Son, who never sinned in thought, word, or deed. We thank you for giving us your Spirit to help us live according to your commands. We know that our actions are a reflection of our hearts. Therefore, we ask that you would purify our hearts and grant us willing minds to do and say all that you command.

We pray for your mercy on our friends and loved ones who face a Christless eternity. We pray for others who profess faith in you but are not walking according to the Spirit but, instead, are satisfying the deeds of the flesh. We pray for others struggling with illness, pain, and sorrow and mourn the loss of friends or loved ones. As the God of all comfort and grace, we pray that you would be pleased to minister to their needs and strengthen them for the day ahead. These things we offer to you as your children, through the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
