Prayer: Our God in heaven, we adore and praise you today because you are the One who, in the beginning, created man in your image and breathed into them the breath of life. We thank you that we are made in your image and have been designed to glorify you and enjoy you for all eternity. We are grieved at the wickedness of our hearts and minds due to the inherited nature of sin and depravity. We long to be holy as you are holy. We are ashamed that we, as new creations, so often forget you and fail to honor you with our thoughts, words, and actions. Forgive us, our Father. Please help us by your Spirit, to seek first your kingdom and righteousness all of our days.
We pray for those who have lost loved ones to the inescapable enemy of death. We ask that you would comfort them and strengthen them as they remember and grieve. We ask that you would remind your people that the Lord Jesus has conquered death and the grave and that he holds forth the glorious hope that death will never overcome his people. We pray this in His Name. Amen.
