Prayer: Our Father in heaven, we have met with You yesterday and have heard Your Word preached and applied to our hearts (2 Tim. 4:1-5). We thank You for Your gracious provision of the Scriptures, which are a light to our path and soothing ointment for our souls (Psa. 119:105). We thank You that in Your wisdom you set apart men, gifted of Your Spirit, to proclaim and expound the written Word. We thank You that You have graciously given to Your church this means of grace where we can hear the Good Shepherd speak to His people (John 10). Father, we pray that You would cause us to remember that which we have listened to this past Lord’s Day. We ask that You would make us good hearers that lead to obedience to that which You have told us (Jas. 1:22). Help us, Father, to meditate on the Word preached (Luke 9:44), to confer with it (Deut. 6:6), and seek to bring forth fruit from it in our lives (Luke 8:15). We pray this in Christs’ Name. Amen.
