Prayer: Most glorious Father in heaven, you who dwell in glory and honor. You alone are holy, and there is no God like you. We adore your name today, and we thank you that you have given us divine access to your presence through the work of the great High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ. Forgive us, Father, for our laziness in prayer. Forgive us for spending so much time lamenting the culture and forgetting to pray. Forgive us for forgetting that the heart of the king is in your hand. Forgive us for our failure to remember that you alone are sovereign. Men may rage and roar, and they may commit themselves to all sorts of things, but you guide and direct their steps. We thank you that you are working all things according to the counsel of your divine and perfect will. We thank you that you are doing these things for your glory and the good of your church. Help us to remember that you are ruling and reigning over this world and that nothing is hidden from your sight. Be gracious to your people, in the midst of a sinful and wicked generation. Uphold us this day, Father, for you alone are able to help us. We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
