Prayer: Father, in recent days, we have, again, witnessed the effects of man’s depravity, and we have seen others harmed or killed as a result of the wickedness of man’s heart. At the root of it, we know the reason for these actions — man’s wicked condition that they inherited from our first parents due to the fall in the garden. As a result, man acts out their depravity by committing evil acts against others. We confess we know these things theologically, and we equally confess that we are sometimes bewildered by them. Though we will never know or understand all the things you determine to do through acts of your divine will, we know that you are working and acting in the lives of your creatures. You alone are sovereign. You alone are wise. You alone do what is right in heaven and earth. You are God, and you can do no other. Therefore, Father, please forgive us when we doubt your purpose. Therefore, Father, we pray for those harmed this morning. We further pray for families and loved ones. We pray that you will be pleased to advance the hope of Christ to them and bring revival to our towns, cities, states, and our land. We are in dire need of your Spirit, and we are in dire need of the help that only you can bring. Please, holy Father, be pleased to glorify your Son by advancing the message that he brings to all who can hear when he says, ‘come to me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.’ These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
