Prayer: Grant almighty God that your people would behold your glory and seek to do you will today. We pray, “you will be done,” but sometimes we mean “please do our will.” Yet, your Word makes it clear that you have decreed and ordered all things according to your divine and infinite wisdom. We know that your Word tells us that you do this for your glory and the good of your church. Yet, we lack contentment in that truth. Forgive us, Father. Please grant to us a mind and heart to be content with your will, knowing that you love us and desire to conform us to the image of your dear Son.

Father, we pray for your church and those men called by your Spirit to shepherd your people. Many of them are discouraged. Many of them are overworked. Many of them are lonely. Many of them consider quitting and walking away each week. We know that they, too, need the benefits and help of Christian friends. We know that they need to be encouraged. Forgive us for failing to pray for them. Please grant them an extra measure of your Spirit today as they labor in your Word and pray for your people. Please bless their studies and their sermon preparation. May you use them to help your church, persevering them to the very end. All of these things we pray in the name of the Good Shepherd of the sheep, the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
