Prayer: Grant Almighty God that you would defend and vindicate your redeemed people from the efforts of evil and wicked men who rise up against you and your church. We rest on the promise that the gates of hell will never prevail against the church of the Lord Jesus Christ. As the church militant, we ask that the commander of the armies of the Lord of hosts would go before us, leading and guiding us, protecting us as we battle against the world, the flesh, and the devil. We know that our warfare is not with flesh and blood but against the rulers and authorities and against the cosmic powers over this present darkness and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore, Father, please arm your people with the weapons of our warfare. Please grant us the willingness to take up the whole armor of God so that we would be able to stand in this dark and difficult world. Grant us a ready defense and strengthen us by your Word that we might be able to rightly deal with all temptations to sin and respond correctly to false ideas and kingdoms that have erected themselves against you. We know that you hold all those who would rebel against you in derision. You laugh at them as they profess to be wise yet prove to be fools because they do not humble themselves before you and your Anointed. We pray for the rulers of this world that you would be pleased to rescue them as you have rescued us. We pray that you would cause them to act wisely as they function in their appointed office as presidents, congressmen, senators, governors, mayors, and all other areas of the civil realm. We pray that you would use their decision to advance the true and eternal kingdom, gloriously advancing the gospel of our Lord and Savior. These things we pray through Christ our Lord, the true King, and Son of the Most High. Amen.
