Praying through the Westminster Shorter Catechism
Prayer 10
Westminster Shorter Catechism Q4
Q. 4. What is God?
A. God is a spirit, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable, in his being, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodness and truth.

Prayer: Our great god in heaven, we bless you, and thank you for your infinite kindness and compassion. You are a God of great power and might. Therefore, there is nothing impossible with you. By the word of your power, you created all that we see and cannot see. In the space of six days, you made the heavens and the earth. You spoke, and it came to pass. Because of your omnipotence, we know that all that you have promised to do you can do. Therefore, we can trust you knowing that you will accomplish all of your holy word in our lives and your creation.

Forgive us, Father, for not trusting you as we should. We often worry and fret over circumstances and issues that come to us. We forget that your power is infinite and mighty. We know that you can do exceedingly, abundantly beyond anything we can imagine. Help us to trust you today. Grant us your Spirit that we will rest in your will and plans for us, whatever they may be.

We ask that you would bring forth fruit in our lives and in the lives of your people from that which they heard in the preaching of your Word. Grant to us a greater willingness to obey you in all things. Teach us to draw near to you an commune with you each day. Thank you for hearing us and working for us in all that you do. We pray this in Christs’ Name. Amen.
