Prayer: Grant almighty God that you would draw all men to yourself through the work of your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, saving them from the misery of sin and the hopelessness of eternity without you. We thank you for loving us before we loved you. We thank you for opening our blind eyes and softening our hard hearts that we would see our great need for Christ. Forgive us, Father, for not reflecting on your matchless wisdom in your work of saving sinners as often as we should. We pray that your work in us would be demonstrated by hearts that desire to love you, praise you, and obey you with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Though we are creatures of dust, you have saved us to serve you in all that we do. Therefore, we pray for your help by giving us what you command. We fall short of your glory, indeed, but we also know that you are pleased to use us in the service of your kingdom. Finally, we thank you for the great privilege we have to worship you, our God and King, who will put all enemies under the feet of the Savior.
We pray for our friends and loved ones who do not know you and face a Christless eternity. We plead with you for their souls because you alone can save them. Your Word tells us that unless a man is born from above, he cannot see the Kingdom of God. Therefore, Father, be pleased to work in the hearts of those who don’t have a saving knowledge of the Savior. Please direct them to the cross where they will find rest for their souls, we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
