Prayer: Our God, there are many reasons to thank you and praise you. You have redeemed us from the curse of sin and placed our feet on the solid rock that is Christ. You give us hope for the future and the promise of an eternity in your presence. You provide for us our daily bread, and you wisely govern all affairs of our lives. You give us everything to enjoy, though we deserve nothing good from your hands. Yet, because of your lovingkindness, you give to those made in your image an abundance of mercies, not treating anyone as their sins deserve. The rain falls on the just and the unjust. The benevolence you display spreads across your entire creation. As such, our God, we bow down with humble hearts and worship you. AS your redeemed people, we have great reasons to do so. You are our God, and we are your people. Unlike those outside your family, you hear the cries of our hearts, and you wisely answer us. Therefore, we can draw strength as we pilgrim through this dark and sinful world. Yet, our Father, there are times when we feel the assault of this evil generation. There are times, we confess, that we grow anxious about the affairs of our world. Indeed, sometimes, those who name your name act wickedly and with pettiness. They behave with arrogance and pride. They promote self instead of walking humbly with you. They sometimes make us worry, though we know that you have told us to trust you for all things. We know you will preserve the righteous and guide them all their days. Therefore, Father, please remember your promises toward us and help us in the face of those difficult times. Please remember us for good, our God. We pray and ask these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
