Prayer: We thank you, our Father, that you have opened the eyes of your redeemed people and caused them to see your beauty and majesty and to acknowledge and worship you as the one true God of heaven and earth. Convinced by your Spirit, we confess with one voice that there is but one living and true God who has made all things and ordained all things for his glory and purpose. You have turned our hearts of stone to flesh and opened our eyes and ears to see and hear all that you stay in your Word. At one time, we lived as though there was no God. Many today, Father, are that way. They live each day under your benevolent care while failing to acknowledge you or give thanks to you. Others deny your existence, proudly stating foolish things though they know you exist and know they are accountable to you. Although they profess to be wise, they are fools. AS God, you behold their works and find nothing good in them. Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive. The venom of asps is under their lips. Their mouths are full of curses and bitterness. There is no fear of God before their eyes. Therefore, Father, we pray for their souls and ask that you would do for them what you have done for us. You have changed our hearts as only you can do, and we pray that you would do the same for those who reject you and rebel against you.

We ask that you forgive us, Father, for the many ways we live as though you do not exist. As your redeemed people, brought close to your presence by your grace and kindness, we often stray from your commands and live as though you do not see our actions or hear our thoughts and words. Forgive us. Please help us, and cause us to walk humbly with you. You are our God, and we are your people. Please help us to live in a manner worthy of the calling you have placed on us. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
