Prayer: Our God in heaven: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we bow before you today, humbled by your majesty and sovereignty. We adore you because you are most worthy of it. You alone are sovereign, and there is no authority other than what comes from you. You have established the nations and placed men in positions of authority in our world. Though these men fail to honor you and minister for you as they should, we know that they are in your hand, and you turn them wherever you desire. We confess that we do not pray for our leaders as often as we should. We have been commanded in your word to pray for “kings and all in high positions that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life.” We confess to our shame that we spend too much time on social media complaining about the affairs of this life and far too little time on our knees, pleading with the alone and absolute sovereign of heaven and earth. Forgive us for our poor use of time. Forgive us for our lack of prayer for our leaders, Forgive us for not turning to you with pleading hearts for the issues of our day.
We pray this day for our leaders. We ask that you would turn their hearts to the truth of Christ. We desire them to see their need of the Savior because we know that he alone can cure what ails our land. We desire to see these men in high positions who bear your image find the peace that can only come from the gospel of the Lord Jesus. We pray this in his Name. Amen.
