Prayer: Our God in heaven: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we adore and bless your holy Name today. You are the alone sovereign of heaven and earth. All things belong to you, and all things come to pass according to your own perfect and righteous will. We thank you that you who are holy are in control of the affairs of men. We look around our world today, Lord, and we are grieving. We grieve the double-mindedness of people. We mourn the hatred, and the vile behavior poured out by many. We grieve for those who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. We grieve and pity the men who are made in your image, who are facing a Christless eternity. We cry out to you, our God, to do what we cannot do — to revive a people through a powerful demonstration of the Spirit of God in the preaching of your Word.

We confess to you that we have wavered on the brink of hatred for those made in your image. We admit that we struggle with intense emotions over events that we see day in and day out. We desire to love the Imago Dei in others. Help us, Father, to hate what is evil and cling to what is good. We pray in Christs’ Name. Amen.
