Prayer: Our God in heaven, you alone are sovereign, and you alone rule and reign over the universe you have made. You alone govern our actions, knowing the end from the beginning. You are the alpha and the omega, the beginning, and the end, and you have numbered our days, and there is nothing we can do to increase or decrease them. Though we know these things to be true, we sometimes worry about the affairs of our lives, from the smallest to the greatest. We struggle to make sense of much of what is happening in our world. We look and see wicked leaders guiding our country. We know you have placed them there by your own will, but we still wonder. We also know that your wisdom is infinite and beyond our comprehension; that we should trust you, for you have all things in the palm of your hand. Forgive us, Father, for we are weak creatures of dust. We fail you by trusting in ourselves instead of you. We sin because we borrow trouble from tomorrow and fixate on them today. We demonstrate our lack of trust in you whenever we are anxious about things. Forgive us, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We do pray for our leaders and ask that you would grant them wisdom beyond their ability so they may exercise the office you have given to them. We pray that you would bind their evil hearts and intentions and not allow them to bring any harm to your people. Finally, we ask that you would be pleased to save their souls for the sake of Christ and his people. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
