Prayer: Our Father in heaven, we thank you and praise you that you are our Father, and we are your children. We glorify your Name today because you alone are worthy of it. We give you praise because you have made us to worship you and glorify you in all that we do. Though we were once rebellious and enslaved to sin, through Christ, you have redeemed us and brought us into union and communion with you. We thank you for the privilege of prayer. We are grateful that you invite us to come and cast all of our cares upon you.

We confess to you our prayerlessness. Too often, we get caught up in the things of this life and forget to storm the throne of heaven with our petitions and pleadings for all that we need. We do so, now, out of grief and sorrow for the world and the state of affairs that we find ourselves. Worse, we grieve over the behavior of your people. We are saddened by the time wasted by many on frivolous things and useless pursuits. We desire to see your people pursue righteousness and holiness. We long to see your churches full with those your Son saved singing your praises and glorifying and worshipping you. We plead with the searcher of hearts to send your Spirit to us that we might be corrected from our laziness. Bless your church, Lord, and guide her as the Good Shepherd of the sheep, we pray in Christs’ Name. Amen.
