Prayer: Our Father, we confess to you that there are times in our lives when we feel forgotten and abandoned. We acknowledge our lack of trust in you and your Word when we say that there are times that we think that you have left us to our own devices to wander aimlessly in this world. We further confess that this thinking leads us to anxiety and worry because we do not believe that you, as our Father, love and care for us and are doing all your works from your perfect wisdom and righteousness for the good of our souls. Thus, we take counsel in our feeble thinking and muddled thoughts. Sometimes these worries are born from adversity. Sometimes they are born from attacks of the Evil One. Sometimes they come from friends and family. Why, O Lord, do we often feel as though you are distant and remote when we know your Word plainly tells us otherwise? It tells us of your steadfast love. It speaks of your divine will and the comfort we should have that you will never leave us or forsake us. Further, it tells us that we are your treasured possession, called from darkness into your marvelous light. It tells us that we are the apple of your eye. Therefore, Father, we beg your forgiveness for our weak faith and wandering minds. Please, Lord, help us trust in your steadfast love, especially when we do not know all the circumstances, for indeed, we are creatures of dust. Please, Lord, grant to us the eyes of faith that we would not wrestle with your providence but merely trust that which we know — that you are good and your love which had no beginning as it has no end, will never, ever leave your redeemed people. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
