Prayer: Grant almighty God that you would bend your ear to hear and listen to the cries of your Redeemed people. For we know that you are a God who delights to listen to the pleadings of your people. You condescend to our lowly estate and hear us in the day of trouble when our hearts are heavy, and our minds are consumed with many things that weigh us down and cause us to tremble. We thank you, our Father, that you hear us from your holy temple, and from the place of your abode, you listen and respond, supporting us whenever we cry out to you. We thank you for granting us the desires of our hearts in so far as they are agreeable to your will. Yet, though we know these things are true, and though we know them to be firmly rooted in your divine will as given to us in your Word, we sometimes fail to run to you whenever we have need. Sometimes we fret instead of praying. Sometimes we worry instead of pleading with you, the one who holds everything in his hands. Forgive us, Father, for the sake of your Son. Please help us shout for joy because of the great salvation you have given us and, through it, access to your most Holy Place where you rule and reign. Lord, help us to trust you and not in kings or princes, and help us to demonstrate that trust by worrying about nothing and praying about everything we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.
