Prayer: Father in heaven, you who are alone sovereign and majestic, we humbly bow before your throne today. We adore you for who you are, “The LORD, the LORD, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.” We confess our sins to you — sins of omission and commission. We grieve how slow we are to obey you and how often we turn aside from doing what you have told us to do. We are thankful that you are a God who delights to forgive sin. Please forgive how slow we are to delight in your will. Help us, by your Spirit, to be zealous to follow you and walk in all your ways.
As we gather to worship you today, help us to see your glory and to know your presence. Give power to your Word as it is read and especially as it is preached. Grant to your minister’s clarity of thought and mind and protect them from the efforts of the evil one. May we truly worship you in spirit and truth today. We pray this in Christs’ Name. Amen.
