Prayer: Grant, almighty God, that you would guide and protect your covenant people as we pilgrim through this world full of trouble, hardship, sorrow, and opposition. We know that we live in a fallen world, but that knowledge is not much comfort in times of difficulty. Yet, you have told us not to fret because of evildoers or worry about matters we cannot control. Indeed, Father, we confess that part of our problem is that we like to be in control and, therefore, resist your divine providence in matters that you alone order and design. Please help us trust in you and persevere, doing all that you have commanded. Please grant us the desire to delight in you and your acts of providence, knowing that all of them are designed for our good and your glory. Please help us to commit our ways to you, trusting that you will act and work in such a way that proves your faithfulness to your redeemed people. Please forgive us for our worry and anxiety during times of hardship. Thank you for your steadfast love and kindness and for helping us to serve you this day to the glory of your name. We pray these things through Christ our Lord. Amen.
