Prayer: Our most blessed and holy God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we thank you for a new day. We give praise to you for ordering your world in such a way that allows us one day in seven to come apart from our worldly employments and recreations and find our rest in you. We thank you for the wisdom and grace in providing us the Lord’s Day when we can gather with your people and worship you. We know that you do not need our worship. You have given us this day for our good. We confess to you that we do not often approach this day with zeal and delight. Forgive us, Lord, for trampling underfoot your Sabbath. Forgive us for our cold hearts towards your worship. Forgive us for our frequent forgetfulness as we hear your Word preached. Help us, by your Spirit, to approach you in spirit and truth. Grant to us a greater hunger and thirst for your Word and worship.
Today we ask that you would fill your ministers with an extra measure of your Spirit as they preach your Word. We pray that those men would decrease, and you would increase. We pray that the living voice of Christ would speak clearly and effectively into the hearts and minds of your people. We ask that you would richly bless your Word today.
Grant to us more love for you. Help us today and be merciful we ask for Christs’ sake. Amen.
