Prayer: Our Father in heaven, we give you praise this morning for another day in which we can serve you. This is the day you have made, and we shall rejoice and be glad in it! We thank you for the benefit of rest and refreshment. We thank you that you grant to your children the benefit of sleep so that we are prepared to serve you with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
As we bow before you, we are reminded of your majesty and glory. We are reminded that you alone are holy. We are conscious of our sin — the sin that humbles us to the dust and reminds us that we are creatures. We are prone to wander, and like sheep, we often go astray. Forgive us, Lord, and help us by your Spirit, to serve you today in whatever way you have ordained for us. Help us to give you all the glory and honor and to remember that our primary purpose in life is to glorify you in all that we do.
Today, we pray for your people as they prepare for the Lord’s Day. We pray that you would cause them to hunger and thirst for righteousness. We pray that they would seek first your kingdom and labor today, while it is still day because the night is coming when no man can work. We pray for your ministers, as they labor in your Word and prepare a meal for your people. We ask that you would grant them wisdom and insight and bless their study to the glory of your name and the good of your people. We pray for your church that you would bless her and guide her. Sanctify your people completely, we ask in Christs’ Name. Amen.
