Prayer: Our most holy God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we mourn the current state of our world. We see what sin has done. We note how arrogant men boast about their accomplishments without any reference to you. We observe evil being promoted in social media, television performances, and programs. We groan over the moral debasement of this world and the promotion of evil. We grieve how easily men call evil good and good, evil. As we observe our world, we also note that our hearts are not often turned to holiness. As your children, we see how easily our hearts are turned to things that do not please you. Forgive us, Father. As your children, we desire to be as holy as possible for sinners. We ask that you will give us what you command: to love you and our neighbor. Grant to us the forgiveness you promised and give us your Spirit that we may do what you have told us with joy in our hearts.
Today we pray for our world. We pray that the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ would advance and that others would hear it and respond to it. We know that the Gospel is the only hope for what ails this world. We pray for it to come to the ears and hearts of our friends and loved ones. Be pleased, Father, to advance your kingdom through the work of the Spirit. We ask this in Christs’ Name. Amen.
