Prayer: Our great God and creator, we come into your presence this morning due to the work of your Son, the great high priest, who, through his flesh, has torn the veil that separated us from you. We are thankful that you have invited us into your presence and that we can commune with you in prayer. We bless your holy name this morning because you are sovereign and, by your divine providence, order all things to come to pass.

We confess our sins to you today — sins of omission and commission. We openly acknowledge that we do not do always do what you have commanded. When we do, we often do so begrudgingly and not joyfully. Forgive us, Lord. Grant to us a willing spirit that we would obey you gladly, from the heart. We know that our chief aim in life is to glorify you in all things that we do. You have made us for this purpose. We ask that you would help us, today, to live in such a manner that you would be honored.

We pray for the leaders of our nation. We ask that you would grant to them the salvation that can only be found in your Son. We ask that you would be pleased to save our leaders. We plead with you to use them for the good of your church. Help us, as a people, to respect those in authority over us and to pray fervently for them. We ask these things in the name of Christ, our Lord. Amen.
