Prayer: Our God in heaven: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we come to you this day as your people. We come to your throne of grace as needy children, dependent upon you for everything that we have. We know that there is nothing good in us, and we bring nothing in our hands except Christ and his righteousness. We know that as we live and move and have our being, all of it is bound up in you. From you life springs and from you, our lives are blessed.

We confess to you our arrogance and pride. We are embarrassed at how much we think we can do for you. Yet, even our hearts cannot beat without your divine providence. The air we breathe, that, too, comes from you. We thank you for life. We confess to you that we do not acknowledge to you the gifts you have granted to us: our family, friends, church, and elders who guide us. Forgive us, Father, for thinking too often about our efforts and not resting in your kindness.

We pray this day for our nation and her leaders. We are an immoral land. We have departed from your Word. We call evil, good and good, evil. Our leaders boast and parade themselves in arrogance. There is no fear of God before them. Father, would you not be pleased to grant revival in our country? We ask that you would give us your Holy Spirit, that you would pour him out upon us. We pray for your church, that you would cause her to seek first your kingdom and righteousness and that she would be the pure bride of your Son. We pray these things, knowing that you will do exceedingly, abundantly beyond all that we image or ask. Thank you for hearing us, Lord, we pray in Christs’ Name. Amen.
