Prayer: Our holy and glorious Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we are thankful that we can come before you today, as your people, to pray and commune with you. Your Word tells us that you are “our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble.” Our days are often filled with trouble and turmoil due to living in a fallen world. We thank you, our God, that you are always present with us. When we go through the fire, we shall not be burned. When we experience the flood of difficulties and trials, we shall not be overwhelmed because you have promised to be with us and help us as we pilgrim through this life.

We confess to you, Father, that we often forget these truths. Instead of resting in your divine providence, we complain; instead of trusting your Fatherly care for us, we murmur about our situations. Help us, Lord, to trust you and believe that you are for us and will never abandon us – even to the end of our days.

Teach us to pray, Lord. Teach us to intercede on behalf of our brothers and sisters who face the storms of this life. We pray for them and ask that you would comfort and guide them and help them. We pray for those who mourn the loss of loved ones. We pray for those who face chronic pain. We pray for those who are anxious about the spiritual condition of family and friends. May you be their ever-present help in time of trouble. We pray these things, humbly, in the Name of Christ, our Lord, and Savior. Amen.
