Prayer: Our Father in heaven, you have blessed us with the reading and especially the preaching of your Word on another Lord’s Day. You have been faithful to speak to your sheep — the sheep of your pasture. We long to now respond with fruit in our lives. We know that your Word tells us that the sheep hear the voice of the shepherd. We know that it is through the foolishness of preaching that you communicate your will and mind to the lives of those your Son redeemed. Help us as we enter another week; as we enter the world as pilgrims and refugees, to remember what you have told us. Grant to us a willing mind and heart to meditate deeply on the Word proclaimed in your worship. May we strive to be obedient to what you have told us.

Forgive us, Father, for our transgressions against you. Forgive us for not loving your Word as we should Be merciful to us and grant us your Spirit so that we, though sinful, may strive to be conformed more and more into the image of your Son. We pray these things in his Name. Amen.
