Prayer: Our majestic and glorious God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we gladly bow before your throne this day to give you the praise that you alone deserve. You are our God, and we are your people. You have called us, and we belong to you. Through the work of your Son, you have placed us on a solid rock and given us newness of life. Therefore, we can call out to you in our distress, knowing that you will hear us and answer us according to your perfect will and wisdom. We confess, our Father, that there are many times in our lives when we feel the burdens of this life all around us. We see it from those who would oppose you. We witness it in the godless actions of others. We observe it on the news, at work, in our homes, and the public square. We are disturbed by the sinful behavior men created in your image commit daily. We are saddened that their hearts are so hardened to the gospel and long for them to see the beauty of Christ. So often, we are subjected to the evil actions of these people. We hear it in words said to us. We witness the efforts aimed at us. We confess that it often brings us anxiety. Therefore, Father, please help us when we are opposed. Please grant us calmness of mind and spirit and teach us to lean on you. Be gracious to us as we learn to call out to you we ask through Christ our Lord. Amen.
